Apple Arcade – The New Game Subscription Platform

Apple has launched multiple subscription services at it’s latest event. One of which is it’s gaming dedicated service, Arcade.

This focus is on those apps which cost money up front and as such don’t get as many downloads or see as much traction from the standard market – even though they are critically acclaimed – that upfront cost just immediately puts people off.

With apps like Lifelike and Overland, there is a really diverse range of Game Types and Developer styles we can expect to see. (Not just your favourite indie developers either, Disney and Lego are some examples of the big dogs getting in on this).

I’m looking forward to this, for someone who has moved away entirely from Game Consoles, and more mobile games, I’m excited for what this future holds.

New Games to be added all the time.

Instant syncing between iPad, iPhone, MacOS and Apple TV – when thought they forgot about that one. This is a big one, being able to continue the game on all devices at one cost will definitely sway over some of the skeptical people. That and Family Sharing is included free of charge.

Privacy is a big thing as well of course, with the point being made that no data is shared with developers without your consent.
